How does CardExchange communicate with SQL Server #46
Question: How does CardExchange communicate with SQL Server when using a native connection?
Answer: CardExchange uses the .NET Data Provider for SQL Server provided by Microsoft. This data provider is integrated in the .NET Framework, so no additional installations are necessary to connect to SQL Server. CardExchange does not need a SQL Server client or an ODBC setup. It directly communicates with the server/database combination specfied in the data definition wizard.
All communication between CardExchange and SQL Server are based on SQL commands. The commands sent to the database are logged in the DataExchange.log file, which is stored in the CardExchange data directory. CardExchange does not leave any connections open between successive database actions.
