Unable to Edit Records or Enter new ones #2125
Good Morning. Since the last update in the beginning of April I have been unable to enter new records or update existing records. Has there been anyone else experiencing the same issues? I checked the definitions and the boxes for allowing new records and editing existing ones are checked so that's not the issue

Hi aargo,

Can you post some screen shots to show at what stage it goed wrong. Are there any error message? Do you see update or insert commands in your DataExchange.log file? What database are you connecting to?

regards,
Rutger.

Hi Rutger. there is no error message. The update and insert buttons are visible and not greyed out. The records themselves just don't reflect any changes we make (existing records) and we can enter the info after hitting new but when we hit insert the info disappears

And what about the DataExchange.log and the database type you are connecting to?

Rutger.

The DataExchange.log is in the CardExchange data directory. The location of the data directory is by default My Documents\CardExchange\Data, but can be changed during installation. The exact location of the data folder can be found in the file C:\Program Files (x86)\ExchangeIt\CardExchange\CardExchange.ini, which you can open in Notepad.

Rutger.

the dateexchangelog was in the documents where you said it would be. It wasn't changed during installation. Here is what was in the log

Hi Aargo,

It seems that your data definition is referencing named regions in Excel, which to there nature give problems with editing, as they have a fixed size. You better reference to entire work sheets.

On the secong page of the data definition (Configuration - Edit data definition) you can select the view or table to read from. Make sure you select Employee$, with the dollar sign. The dollar sign indicates that it refers to a work sheet and not a named region.

The fact that the default data folder references named regions is actrually a glitch that will be corrected in version 7.

regards,
Rutger.

I changed it to "EMPLOYEE$" as you said and it still isn't allowing any changes to the database

I don't remember from previous entry of new records but I don't see an "ID" number assigned when we attempt to enter a new record. Would that be a problem or is it done once the "INSERT" button is hit
