Use Manual Entry text for visible and storage item #5277
Is it possible for a manual entry text mapping which is used for a script item on a card design to also be used for a storage item? If I set them both as manual entry in the mappings window then it asks for the same information twice.

Hi Mark,

It is, but the answer to this question depends very much on the CardExchange version you are using and on whether you use the version 7 designer or not, so, please, include that info.

regards,
Rutger.

Hi Rutger,

Version 9.1, and "new" designer.

No DB for reading is used (an internal view of "select 1 as cardId" is used in order to provide storage items). The user keys in 3 pieces of information - all are printed on the card, but one needs to be written to a table along with the chip number.

Use Manual Entry text for visible and storage item #5280
Hi Mark,

If you can do all your mappings in the designer, you can do with a single manual entry and reuse it for your Python scripts and for your storage items. If you are having a plug-in or a .NET Function and you need to do your mappings in the mappings window, you can use "void plug-ins". This concept is described in the attached document. You effectively create a virtual plug-in (no dll needed) with a single input and a single output parameter. You map the input parameter as manual entry and the storage item and script to the output parameter. This way, you have only one manual entry wile using it for multiple mappings.

regards,
Rutger.

Thanks Rutger, setting the mapping to the script item in the designer has worked perfectly.
